Hello Jenny I thought I would have a look on the 1851 England Census for anyone named Gifford White. I didn't come up with "Gifford" but did find a number of G Whites, one of whom was a convict on board the hulk "Warrior" at Woolwich. These are his details: G WHITE, Age 28, Married, Tinker, born Montgomery, Wales, There was a mutiny on board the Warrior in 1851and the convicts were subsequently sent to Millbank Prison to await transportation.
