Hi, There are two John Silcock's who came to Tasmania, one in 1828 and one in 1831. Have a look at the Tasmanian Archives site as you will need to know where your John Silcock came from in England to be able to identify which one he is. Many Tasmanian convicts ended up in Melbourne. Carol
Thanks Carol. One of the John Silcock`s mentioned applied to marry, so possibly it was the other John who could be the one i`m looking for. There`s always the possibility the one that married, remarried I suppose. I`m trying to make contact with a SILLCOCK descendant who may be able to fill me in on whether his g.g.grandfather was a convict, time will tell, that`s provided he knows of course.
