    3. I guess I will just add to the complaints. I had a distant "maternal relative" steal my tree and add it to theirs, including all my living relatives etc on my paternal line as well as the maternal line even though they had no connection. This was also on GenesReuntied - I have since marked it private but the damage is done. I think these people are like bower birds and just collect to increase the size of their "tree". Like Julie I find the majority of people very helpful but it is a pity there are a few who spoil it for everyone. 3. On a different note, but kinda the same subject .... wow I am making sense today!! I have a tree on there and when I looked at other peoples trees I saw that someone had my grandfather listed, so I had a look and the person had quite a few mistakes in their tree, the glaring one to me was that they had my grandfathers brother listed as his son. I sent her a really nice message saying that it was an error and that I had all the brothers birth dates, marriage dates, deaths, illnesses etc and that I would be happy to send them along and perhaps we could figure out how we are related. Unfortunately I got a very rude message back saying I didn't know what I was talking about, to get my facts straight etc etc. I again tried to explain that Alfred was my grandfather and Eric his brother, not his son and that if Eric was his son, that would make him my Dads brother which isn't the case - I then got an even ruder message - so I just gave up! -----Original Message----- From: aus-convicts-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:aus-convicts-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Tom Anderson Sent: Monday, 1 September 2008 10:56 AM To: aus-convicts@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [AUS-CON] ANONYMOUS ANCESTRY TREE OWNERS I guess I will just add to the complaints. 3. I too had a relative of a relative (No connection to me) take all my information from Genes Reunited and add it to their tree - without first asking. I don't mind sharing family information with any genuine member of my family tree but if I've gone to years of trouble (and expense) doing the research I feel they should at least have the couyrtesy to ask first before printing all in the public domain. Well, that's my dummy spit for the day. The other problem is totally incorrrect info on the IGI -no way of fixing it but it must be confusing. Sp far, I've not had a problem on Ancestry but thanks for making me aware.
