    3. Hello Listers Is anyone aware of a directory of some sort ( such as the Greville's Post Office Directory, 1872) for Sydney in the mid 1830s? I have an ancestor working for a Mr Raymond of O'Connell Street Sydney. I wonder if he is James O'Connell who became Postmaster-General in 1835. Cheers Greg

I wonder if he is James O'Connell who became > Postmaster-General in 1835. I think you have that sentence muddled ......... I just checked all these fiche looking for a James O'CONNELL , when I remembered Isaac NICHOLS was our 1st Postmaster . Asked Google to make sure http://www.auspost.com.au/EDP/0,1398,CH3165%257EMO19,00.html I was right and it was a James RAYMOND who introduced the first pre paid stamp some years later http://www.adb.online.anu.edu.au/biogs/A020319b.htm Bye MargM Beautiful Wyong Shire NSW
