Dear List, I am looking for information on John MERCHANT per "St Michael". He was sent to Norfolk Island after being found guilty of 'violating an infant aged eight years'. I have not found anything of him at Norfolk Island site but have just found him listed on the Tasmania archive site. John Merchant, database no. 49155, date of arrival, 18 Nov 1845 per 'Governor Phillip', date of departure from NI, 1 November 1845. Arrived originally to NSW per 'Michael'. He was to 'spend the rest of his life at NI, never to return'. Hoping to find if he married and/or died in VDL. Regards, Lynette
