    3. Hi Allan, All I can think of is that the second number is Ticket of Leave or Certificate of Freedom No. 1939 issued in 1840. The other numbers have me stumped. My convict came in 1837 and all the women on the ship had a number starting with 37 then -116 etc which was said to be their prisoner number. They were from Ireland. The next column then had another number of 2 or 3 digits - no idea what this one was for as it did not follow their alphabetical listing but seems to coincide with the number of women on the ship. My lady was 37-100 65 Maybe they did not embark in alphabetical order (grin). As they came from different prisons all over Ireland maybe the first number was issued in the different prisons they were in or, as they were all collected from their different villages and sent to the Cork Gaol prior to being taken to the ship, maybe this number was issued there.
