    3. Hi again Allan, Just a follow up ... The heading for the 1st column on the indent is No. (as in number). If you compare the writing "style" and other numbering on the indent, I think you may find that the number/s is actually 2039 124, with the down stroke on the nine being somewhat cursive and fancy. 3. Hello Diane, many thanks for your input. You have put me on a path of understanding that I would not have thought of on my own. At least not for some time any way. Best wishes Allan ----- Original Message ----- From: "Diane" <dianep@optusnet.com.au> To: <aus-convicts@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, October 15, 2008 5:57 PM Subject: Re: [AUS-CON] Reference numbers on Ships Muster > Hi again Allan, > > Just a follow up ... > > The heading for the 1st column on the indent is No. (as in number). > If you compare the writing "style" and other numbering on the indent, > I think you may find that the number/s is actually 2039 124, > with the down stroke on the nine being somewhat cursive and fancy. > > > Regards, > Diane > North West Sydney > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Diane" <dianep@optusnet.com.au> > To: <aus-convicts@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Wednesday, October 15, 2008 5:17 PM > Subject: Re: [AUS-CON] Reference numbers on Ships Muster > > >> Hi Allan, >> >> The 40/1939 is his Ticket of Leave No. (issued in 1840, number 1939). >> >> The below reference is taken from the Society of Australian Genealogists >> Ticket of Leave database ( http://www.sag.org.au ) >> >> Last name Mulvy >> First name Patrick >> Ship Asia >> Year 1831 >> Native place NR >> Trade or calling NR >> District Roscommon >> Ticket no 40/1939 >> State Records shelf ref 4/4143 >> State Records reel no 937 >> >> >> Regards, >> Diane >> North West Sydney >> >> >> ----- Original Message ----- >> From: "Allan Wells" <wells@cyberone.com.au> >> To: <AUS-CONVICTS@rootsweb.com> >> Sent: Wednesday, October 15, 2008 12:28 PM >> Subject: [AUS-CON] Reference numbers on Ships Muster >> >> >>> Hello, >>> >>> I am new to this list.
