I don't know what happened to John Scott who arrived on the Eden (2) after 1849, though. I can't see him in the Tasmanian Convict Permission to Marry Index. Best of luck! John Scott arrived in Van Diemen's Land on the Eden (2) in 1842. He was tried in Nottingham Town Quarter Sessions on 4 January 1842 and arrived on 5 July 1842. He was sentenced for 7 years for stealing iron from the Station House yard. He was married (wife Margaret) and had thee children at Nottingham. He was a blacksmith aged 33 when he arrived but had been a soldier. He received his Certificate of Freedom in January 1849.
