If your convict is from Wales it's also worth looking at http://www.llgc.org.uk/sesiwn_fawr/index_s.htm index of all Great Sessions (sesiwn fawr) cases in Wales from 1730 - 1830. Includes people resident in England but accused of crime in Wales. Much of North Wales was on the Chester Circuit. Nothing there for John Gee I'm afraid. Several for a Daniel Gee, from Chester. I have a CD-ROM which gives names for 1706-1800 Denbighshire Quarter Sessions Rolls if anyone has a look-up they want there. Gives name and crime, sometimes sentence. To date no one has found his crime, though some believe he was a Irish Rebel, but there is no evidence to support this assumption that I have been able to see. Can anyone suggest what would be the next move. Documentation in Australia does not mention his crime. John Gee went to Tasmania to cut cedar and married there. He died at 100 years old in 1872. Thanks for any advice.
