    3. Hi Debbie, Do you know about Peter Mayberry's website about the Irish Convicts to Australia: http://members.pcug.org.au/~ppmay/cgi-bin/irish/irish.cgi I found that the William Kelly who came on Larkins in 1829 was from Cork City and was sentenced to Life for stealing wine from his master. That William Kelley received his certificate of freedom on 30/4/1836 - online index NSW state records. I think you can look at the microfilm at State Library in Macquarie Street or any library holding the ARK records and find more details where it was issued etc. There is no record of a petition to send out his first wife on the Irish National Archives site. The thing about this William Kelly which makes it a bit doubtful is that his native place is Cork City and on your death certificate it says Limerick. Maybe he was born in Limerick and lived in Cork after childhood? Someone once told me it is very hard to trace births in Ireland. You could try http://ifhf.brsgenealogy.com/index.php this site lets you make free searches but with a common name like William Kelly it would be hard to find the right one without a parish name to narrow it down. Coincidentally (or not?) there are 2 Condons, William and Patrick, also on Larkins in 1829 and also from Cork city. Can't really help with definite matching of parents to convict. You were lucky to get their names on the death certificate. The following information is stated on his death certificate William Kelley( farmer) Born 1804 Died 1879 Frederickton Nsw Mother Catherine Condon Father William Kelley( farmer) Born Co Limerick has been in Nsw 50 years. I know he was married in 1850 at Port Macquaie Nsw and spent the remaining years in the area.I can find no records of his birth. I have decovered 1 x William Kelly that was a convict on board Larkins in 1829 which if death certificate is corect could be him.How does one know for sure? is there any way to cross reference convicts with parents to ensure the correct one .William as his marriage certificate states had been previously married, this perticular convict did have a wife and 4 children. Any direction would be greatly appreciated.
