Andrew I had a look to see what Ancestry had on your convict GGG Grandfather (no more than you already have, I think) but I noticed another Nutter on the list - a John Nutter who was also tried at Lancaster, on 6 January 1836, and sentenced to 7 years transportation to VDL (Tasmania). He was transported on the Bengal Merchant. I wondered if he could be related to your Daniel. Andrew, do you know who Daniels ancestors were. I am descended from Nutters of Briercliffe who were baptised in Colne circa 1777 Sue --- On Mon, 27/4/09, CandROverson <overson12@btinternet.com> wrote: > From: CandROverson <overson12@btinternet.com> > Subject: Re: [AUS-CON] NUTTER, Daniel b 1794 in Lancashire > To: "Andrew Bannister" <bannister@dsl.pipex.com>, aus-convicts@rootsweb.com > Date: Monday, 27 April, 2009, 6:45 PM > Andrew > > I had a look to see what Ancestry had on your convict GGG > Grandfather (no > more than you already have, I think) but I noticed another > Nutter on the > list - a John Nutter who was also tried at Lancaster, on 6 > January 1836, and > sentenced to 7 years transportation to VDL (Tasmania). Sue, according to the record at St Bartholomew's Colne, Daniel was born 12.7.1794 and baptised 12.10.1794. Parents were Robert Nutter, weaver, of Haggate (Briercliffe) and Anne (I believe nee Taylor) ). In the IGI, Robert Nutter married Nanny Taylor at Burnley 12.8.1787. Nanny is a common diminutive for Ann, and Daniel's first two children are named Robert 1814 and Nanny 1816, both baptised at Haggate, as was Alice b1818. Does this fit with your Nutters?
