Dear Christine, This is not much help and or relevance to your enquiry but my maternal side is Evans going back to 1673 with John Evans m Martha Evans in Constantine Cornwall. The first Sarah Evans we have was christened 12/2/1797. Don't complain about the damp, we live in Victoria Australia and it has not rained for over two months and we are facing another potential firestorm next Tuesday with winds uo to 140kph and century temps.
