    3. We have been seaching for Francis Cockrill CRAXFORD for some years. He was transported to VDL on the Norfolk, arriving 14 May 1835. We have been able to find out a little about him, and after serving his sentence there is a record of him going to Victoria. We have been unable to find any trace of him after that. If anyone comes across his name, in Victoria or elsewhere in Australia, other than VDL, I would appreciate if they could let me know. Reg Moore

    3. There are some listings in the Pioneer Index : A Francis CROXFORD married Jane Underwood in 1875 his place of birth was listed as Oxfordshire; they had 4 children between 1887 and 1885 in Violet Town/Benalla. I can find no death fro Francis Croxford. A James CROxFORD married Charlotte PRoctor Burnell in Violet town in 1870.pob ENGLAND It is interesting that in Violet town in in 1893 a James CROXFORD died aged 77 est dob 1816. There is alarage family of CROXFORD's in the Violet town area in the indexes. Only 1 COCKRILL and it seems unconnected Willian Cockril IVES. I know CROXFORD is not CRAXFORD but my convict Godwin changed his name to GOODWIN when he came from Tasmania to Victoria, John Frederick became FREDERICKS, William Vickers became BICKERS. All names had only one letter altered, but research eventually sorted things out. regards Robyn ----- Original Message ----- From: "Reg Moore" <regmoore@paradise.net.nz> To: <aus-convicts@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, February 18, 2009 1:11 PM Subject: [AUS-CON] Craxford > We have been seaching for Francis Cockrill CRAXFORD for some years. > He was transported to VDL on the Norfolk, arriving 14 May 1835. > We have been able to find out a little about him, and after serving his > sentence > there is a record of him going to Victoria.
