Hi Julie, The best way to do this and to make the work your own is to find a library that holds the microfiche Indents ( for PJ convicts) and make a note of all those who were tried in Cornwall OR gave their native place as Cornwall. Of course not of all those tried in Cornwall or gave it as their native place were actually born there although most "probably" lived in Cornwall at some stage. You could also go through all of the Conditional Pardons and Recommendations for a Conditional Pardon microfiche as many of these give a native place that is not provided on the Indents. There were less than 250 convicts to arrive in PJ and who were tried in Cornwall. I'm trying to put together a database of convicts from Cornwall and would love to hear from any descendants who would like to contribute. I can also probably help with tracing the families back into Cornwall or at least place names, parishes etc. Cheers Julie
Hello Lesley, I was hoping someone would point me in the right direction! I have transcribed Cornish parish records, census etc, but am not experienced with convict research despite my husband having six in his tree! I'm not surprised to hear only a couple of hundred were tried in Cornwall as basically we are all very good people (she says tongue in cheek) Thanks for your advice which is very welcome.
