    3. Hi John Thank you so much for that..I have found what I needed. Cheers Judith Warm & cloudy East coast Tasmania-Australia (Just a tad warmer than where you are!!!) -----Original Message----- From: aus-convicts-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:aus-convicts-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of John SBC Sent: Friday, 16 January 2009 6:21 AM To: aus-convicts@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [AUS-CON] Old Town areas Hi Judith, Happy New Year. I can't help directly with a website , BUT, the following info comes from a local Cootamundra history (available at http://www.cootamundra.local-e.nsw.gov.au/files/1023/File/History.pdf) 1884 Cootamundra was gazetted a municipality of 3,010 acres, about 9 sq miles (23.30 sq km) on May 20. 1907 The Jindalee Shire of 583 sq miles (app. 1510 sq kms) was proclaimed - previously Cowcumbala Shire. So at least you have a couple of shire/county location names and dates to look for. The history is actually quite interesting. I commend the local Historical Society for producing it. Certainly gives you a feel for how and when the town developed. John, in sunny San Francisco, unseasonably warm (~19C), while the rest of the USA freezes. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Judith Rowe" <rowesretreat@bigpond.com> To: <aus-qld-toowoomba@rootsweb.com>; <aus-convicts@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, January 14, 2009 6:30 PM Subject: [AUS-CON] Old Town areas > Happy New Year to One & All > > > > Hi, my name is Judith and I was wondering if anyone out there would be > able > to tell me if there is a site where you can look up old town names and > electoral roll areas. > > > > My interest at the moment is Cootamundry (now Cootamundra) but cannot seem > to find which area it would have come under back in the 1800's and early > 1900's. > > > > Thanks in advance for all and any help. > > > > Cheers > > Judith > > (In a mild and sunny Tasmania-East Coast) > > > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > AUS-CONVICTS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to AUS-CONVICTS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message No virus found in this incoming message.
