I just checked all these fiche looking for a James O'CONNELL , when I remembered Isaac NICHOLS was our 1st Postmaster . Asked Google to make sure http://www.auspost.com.au/EDP/0,1398,CH3165%257EMO19,00.html I was right and it was a James RAYMOND who introduced the first pre paid stamp some years later http://www.adb.online.anu.edu.au/biogs/A020319b.htm Bye MargM Beautiful Wyong Shire NSW

    3. John I belong to Genes Reunited, a UK Genealogy site. I have searched on Bob Jude b1844 Cambridgeshire, and 5 members have him on their trees, with a further 3 possible entries. I don't have access to their trees unless they open them up to me. With your agreement I would be happy to contact these people and give them your email address. Let me know. 3. Dear Liz, I have visited John Merchant again. He arrived in NSW on "St Michael" in 1820, was sent to Norfolk Island in 1837 and then on to Tasmania in 1845 on "Governor Phillip". I found this information from Archives Search No: 49155 - I will perhaps send for that Doc. I have gone through the BDMs you sent me and have ignored the 2 births and will look into the 2 marriages and 2 deaths. Is it possible there is a reference to him in Norfolk Island as he was there for 8 years? 3. Hello Listers, I am trying to prove a connection between one ancestor and his supposed parents, and I thought maybe the convict musters/census may be able to help me. His name is Robert Hollis, who was born in 1850 at Auburn in Sydney. According to his death certificate his parents were William Hollis and Bridget O'Brien. I have found an application to marry for William Hallas (convict on Lloyds 1833) to Bridget O'Brien (arrived free) along with their marriage in 1844. I have found baptisms for children of this couple but not my ancestor, Robert. I thought I might be able to find him as part of the family on a convict muster or census, but can anyone tell me what years these census/musters were taken? and where I may be able to access them if appropriate. I live in Brisbane. Any other clues/suggestions would be most welcome as I have been stuck on this problem for some time. I am also having trouble finding the deaths of William and Bridget. I am also thinking about SANDS directories etc. What dates do they cover? On a death certificate for a William, it states that he has two sons in Lane Cove, so thought if I could find the sons listed in that area that would be a little more evidence for the file.
