Rhoda, I agree with that information which I have already have but Ann's age differs markedly on many different records and therefore I have kept my options open concerning her. One of the reasons I am allowing a bit of latitude is because Bernard (also Barnard and Barnet) was a fair bit older than she and was an Irish Catholic. I have been unable to find out a great deal about him before he got into trouble with Ann in Glasgow but he is listed as being a "weaver" and a "Bernard Hughes" of Armagh (he claims to have come from there on all his documents) appears on the Irish Flax Growers List of the time. The fact that Annie appears to use BOTH surnames as the feeling takes her MIGHT be an indication that the couple was not legally married. I am open to the fact that Bernard might have had a wife back in Ireland whom he had not divorced (taking into consideration the times and the religion). Thank you for information about the naming of the children. Ann's eldest child was a girl named "Mary" or sometimes listed as "Mary Ann". So I will keep that in the back of my mind as I move forward. There are some fairly interesting records of the couple and their life in Australia but then they seem to drop out of sight. Please let me know if you learn anything extra that might help[ while you research and I will do the same. This has been a very cold winter here in parts of NSW so I think London might be such a bad place to be. Hi Kerri This time difference is a bit disorientating, isn't it! I have just looked up Crossmyloof on a Google map and see that it is about 10 to 15 miles to the east of Paisley. It was a very small village in the early 19th century but is now in the Cathcart area of Glasgow. I haven't come across it in relation to my Janet Goldie who moved about 5 miles west of Paisley to live in Kilbarchan with her husband. Goldie is a not uncommon name in the Renfrewshire area and I am not sure if we have the same Ann. Can you can let me know the surname of her husband and the names of her children., and I will see what I can find out? What crime did she and Bernard commit? Hi Rhoda, She was indeed Scottish and from Glasgow area most likely as that is where she was living with Bernard when they were arrested. I too have zeroed in on John Goldie and Margaret McKell as being possibilities for Ann parents (National Scottish archives). We might have made a connection. I can give you the address that Ann was living at when she was arrested - I will look it up and get back to you Cheers Kerri -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of CandROverson Sent: Sunday, 24 August 2008 9:21 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [AUS-CON] "Louisa" lasses: Ann Goldie Hello Kerri I am interested in your mention of Ann Goldie. Hi Listers, Has anyone any information they can share with me regarding the voyage of the "Louisa". The ship delivered its cargo of 90 women to Sydney in December 1827. I am particularly interested in discovering the details of the passengers who accompanied their mothers on this trip. Many of the girls, I understand brought their children with them. My own 4xGreat grandmother (Ann Goldie) brought her four young daughters on this trip. Does anyone happen to have a list of the children brought here by here convict mothers? I am interested in any information anyone might have on this voyage (not on the state of mind of the Ship's Master upon arrival - it is a "given" that with a load of women and little children, he must have been certifiably insane by the time he docked!) Thankyou Lesley, no as a farmer in the Paterson area....we have the wife & children going to Mudgee.... but no trace of Henry after 1870.....cheers Lesley ----- Original Message ----- From: Lesley Uebel<mailto:[email protected]> To: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, August 23, 2008 9:04 PM Subject: Re: [AUS-CON] Morgan alias Boore Hi Lesley Other than what can be found on the internet have you checked the Indents or the details of his Ticket of Leave - both can be found at many large libraries. Boore was assigned to the Hunter region so it could well be him. Was he still working as a Fisherman after his marriage ? I do have something interesting information about him - his crime was stealing bees :) Regards Lesley Uebel mailto:[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> CLAIM A CONVICT http://users.bigpond.net.au/convicts/index.html<http://users.bigpond.net.au/convicts/index.html> -----Original Message----- From: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> [mailto:[email protected]]On Behalf Of Lesley Sherman Sent: Saturday, August 23, 2008 6:25 PM To: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Subject: [AUS-CON] Morgan alias Boore Hi listers, we have a THOMAS BOORE alias HENRY MORGAN arrived on the "Planter" in 1832......have found TOL & CP details....was wondering if anyone may have him in their family tree also with any interesting info on him.....we are trying to confirm if he is the right man to marry at Morpeth in 1847...cheers Lesley ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
Hello Kerri I am interested in your mention of Ann Goldie. Was she Scottish? My 2xGt Grandmother, Janet Goldie, had an older sister Ann born in Paisley, Renfrewshire in 1793. I have no other details for Ann, other than that her parents were John Goldie and Margaret McKell.
