    1. [AUS-ACT] Ryerson Indexers required for Canberra Times
    2. John Graham
    3. The Ryerson Index has vacancies for an indexer or indexers willing to take on the indexing of the Canberra Times each day. A rough guide to the time involved would be 10-15 minutes per day. We prefer indexers to have access to the printed copy of the paper (this is a preference, not a rigid rule) - we have found that some newspaper websites do not contain all the notices published in print. If you have access to the paper, the idea is that you index one day's notices at a time, and send it to us. All indexing is done at home, at a time to suit yourself. It's possible for one indexer to index this paper every day (the previous indexer did it this way for some years), but we are flexible in sharing the indexing around if we have more than one person interested, or if one person feels that every day is too much. We supply the indexing software, plus a full training course for new indexers. Those who have indexed for Ryerson in the past are most welcome to apply. If you are unable to index the notices, but would still like to help, then we have a facility whereby you can scan the notices and upload them to our website, for others to subsequently index. If you are interested, please contact the Ryerson Index via the "Contact Ryerson Index Inc" link on the website at www.ryersonindex.org. John Graham President, Ryerson Index Inc

    3. Hi Peter The Heraldry & Genealogy Society of Canberra (HAGSOC) http://www.hagsoc.org.au/ holds indexes on microfiche to 2003. From 2003 to date, the notices have been collected from the electronic version of the newspaper. If you are looking for something in particular an enquiry to the Secretary should assist you. The Ryerson Index http://www.ryersonindex.org/ also has indexes of notices from the electronic version from 2003 - March 2011. 3. Hi Lesley how kind of you to offer to help me. I am sorry to say I am no relation to Don Whitbread but stranger things have happened. I have checked the achives on line, I believe that is where I got the ref's from. I am seaching for a Captain Henry Dunsford and his movments but would really like to get a signature for him. There are four ref;s but it is the first one that is the most important I feel and then in order of significance. So IF you do have time to search and only have a short time could you look for No 1.
