    3. The Meridian Star, DeKalb, MS 18 April, 2008 Shelley R. Atwood, Registered Nurse /Diabetic Educator/U.S. Navy veteran Services for Shelley R. Atwood will be held today at 11:30 a.m. in Liberty Baptist Church, Kemper County, with the Revs. Albert McMullan and Allan Herrington officiating and Capt. Ken Laube, USN, delivering the eulogy. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Atwood, 50, of Bailey, died Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at Rush Foundation Hospital. A longtime active member of Liberty Baptist Church DeKalb. Atwood will be remembered as a loving mother, wife and friend. Her dynamic personality and Christian witness endeared her to everyone she met. Never meeting a stranger, she truly had a servant's heart and will be incredibly missed and loved by her friends and family. Mrs. Atwood was an employee of Rush Foundation Hospital and NAS Meridian, Survivors include her husband, Jim Atwood of Bailey; a daughter, Laurie Atwood Jenkins and her fiance', Eric Dear, both of Meridian; a son, Pvt. Matthew Wayne Atwood of Fort Hood, Texas; a granddaughter, Callie Elizabeth Jenkins of Meridian; her father, Forest Grimes of Sulphur, La.; three brothers, Scott A. Grimes and his wife, Brenda, and Anthony Ray Grimes and his wife, Denise, all of Paris, Ill., and Kevin Kelly and his wife, Kim, of Indianapolis, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews, and longtime friends Lynda and Perry Miller. Pallbearers will be Lt. Cmdr. Michael Smith, USN, Kevin Kelly, Dr. James Purdy, Perry Miller, Jeff Johnson, Capt. Russell Knight USN, Jerry Sullivan, Capt. Curt Goldacker, Doug Wilkerson. Visitation will be today one hour prior to the service at the church.
