    3. MetroWest Daily News <www.metrowestdailynews.com> 17 Mar 2009 Velma B. Atwood MARLBOROUGH Velma B. Atwood, 89, died Monday, March 16, 2009, at Marlborough Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Minot A. and Eunice (Temple) Browne. She and Stoughton Atwood, who died in 2004, were married for 61 years. Together they lived in Florida, California, Washington, Massachusetts, Indiana, Maine and New Hampshire, making lasting friendships everywhere. Mrs. Atwood grew up in Cohasset. She was the third of six children. Two sisters, Mary Straight and Harriett Edwards, and a brother Minot Browne, predeceased her. She is survived by a brother, Frank Browne and his wife, Judy, of Coventry, R.I.; and a sister, Natalie Cockrell and her husband, Bud, of E. Greenwich, R.I. She also leaves behind brothers-in-law, Ted Atwood of North Carolina and Paul Miller of Colorado; and sisters-in-law, Sally Milne of Florida, Polly Wilson of New Hampshire and Charlotte Weaver of Florida. In Wrentham, where they raised their children, she was a den mother for Cub Scouts, a Brownie leader, a prize-winning garden club member, a member of Walpole Footlighters and an active member and deaconess at First Congregational Church. She volunteered in hospitals and community organizations everywhere she lived. She leaves three children, George Atwood and his partner, Karen Page, of Bucksport, Maine, Nancy Sullivan and her husband, Terry, of Ashland and Raymond Atwood and his wife, Konni, of Somersworth, N.H. She leaves 10 grandchildren, Sam Atwood and his wife, Randi, of Tallahassee, Fla., Jon Atwood of Bangor, Maine, Christopher Ralph and his wife, Lisa, of Marlborough, Heather Tanashian and her husband, Gary, of Bolton, Jennifer Short and her husband, Tom, of El Dorado Hills, Calif., Dorin Thibault and her husband, Bob, of Westborough, currently living in Belgium, Molly Delmastro of Plymouth, Jessica DAmbrosio of Sandwich, John and Nick Atwood of Somersworth, N.H., Hank Williams and his wife, Madeleine, of Woodbridge, N.J., and Becki Green and her husband, Ben, of Dunbarton, N.H. Great-grandchildren are Ian Atwood, Craig and Elissa Ropi, Isabela and Sofia Tanashian, Samantha and Casey Short, Allison, Morgan and Caroline Thibault, Savannah Delmastro, Lauren and Nicholas DAmbrosio, Caleb Atwood, Anthony Atwood and William Green. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be Sunday, March 22, 2 to 5 p.m., at Chesmore Funeral Home, 854 Washington St., Holliston, www. chesmorefuneralhome. com. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 23, at First Congregational Church, 725 Washington St., Holliston. She leaves three children: George Atwood and his partner Karen Page of Bucksport, ME, Nancy Sullivan and her husband Terry of Ashland, and Raymond Atwood and his wife Konni of Somersworth, NH. She also leaves 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Visiting hours will be Sunday, March 22, 2-5 PM at Chesmore Funeral Home, 854 Washington Street, HOLLISTON, MA. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, March 23 at First Congregational Church, 725 Washington St., Holliston.
