Victoria Times-Colonist <www.timescolonist.com> 14 June 2009 Phyllis (Jessop) Atwood March 16, 1923 - June 5, 2009 Phyllis (Jessop) Atwood passed away peacefully at the Oak Bay Kiwanis Pavilion in Victoria BC. She was born in North Battleford, Sask. Moved to England in 1936 where she worked and served with the Allied forces as a driver in the motor pool during WWII, returning to Canada in 1947 with her English husband Michael Bruce. During her life she lived in several Canadian and American cities before settling on Saltspring Island in 1975 with her husband Richard Atwood. Their home at Southey Point for twenty five years was a haven of beauty, respite, vitality and stimulating conversation for friends and family. An avid gardener and needle artist her sense of beauty and caring for others made a significant contribution to everyone who knew her. She is survived by her daughter Paddy Bruce, brother Mervyn Jessop, stepsons Duncan and Colby Atwood, four grandchildren and one great grandson. Her brothers Walter and Don Jessop predeceased her.
