    3. The Star Herald <www.starherald.com> Scottsbluff, Nebraska 6 Sep 2009 Olin Deliese Atwood Olin Deliese Atwood, 86, went to meet his Savior on Nov. 29, 2004, in Hill City, Kan. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 12, at Summit Christian College in Gering. At his request, a private burial was held at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Hill City, Kan. Memorials may be made to Summit Christian College in Gering. Olin was born on July 25, 1918, in Gordon, Neb., the third child and only son of Richard Garland Atwood and Cynthia Celia Short. He was raised on the family farm in Antelope County, Neb., attending country school through 8th grade. Graduating from Neligh High School in 1936. Olin came to Jesus as a teenager because his older sister wanted to learn to play the violin. Guy Dunning, a Christian minister who was also an accomplished violinist, gave Vera lessons with the understanding that she would attend church. Vera accepted Jesus as her Savior and brought her entire family to church where they all came to know Jesus. Dunning encouraged Olin to attend Minnesota Bible College and he graduated with a degree in Ministry in 1940. He received his Masters of Divinity degree from Cincinnati Bible Seminary in Cincinnati, 0hio. He and his wife Deloris ministered to numerous Christian Church congregations in Minnesota, Indiana, Kentucky, Kansas, Nebraska, and Wyoming. Olin spent the last 16 years of his ministry teaching New Testament and Church History at Plane Valley Bible in Scottsbluff, where he was also the librarian. He treasured the memories of his students at PVBC. He married his high school and college classmate, Deloris Ethel Neal, on June 4, 1940, in Neligh, Neb. They celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in 2004. Survivors include his son, Leon Atwood and wife Diane of Lander, Wyo.; daughters, Karen Aldridge and husband Jerry of Hill City, Kan., and Aileen Couch and husband Cal of Havre, Mont.; three grandsons; two granddaughters; seven great-grandsons, and three great-granddaughters. Olin was preceded in death by his parents and an older sister Lucile.
