Palestine Herald-Press <www.palestineherald.com> 10 Jun 2009 John Lewis Atwood Graveside services for John Lewis Atwood, 74, of Palestine will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Duncan Cemetery in Good Springs under the direction of Crawford A Crim Funeral Home in Henderson. Mr. Atwood died Tuesday at Hospice of East Texas Homeplace in Tyler. He was born Dec. 16, 1934 in Henderson. He was a Baptist and a retired welder with Calhoun Packing Co. Family will receive friends one hour before he graveside services at Duncan Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Willie Marie Atwood; and one sister, Janna Marie Atwood. Mr. Atwood is survived by two sons, John William Atwood of Palestine and Kenneth Dewayne Atwood of Chandler; two daughters, LaVonda Mayer of Terrell and Jeannie Marie Dunnam of Palestine; one brother, Billy Wayne Atwood and wife Tootsie of Hitchcock; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Dunnam, Mark Huffman, David Penion, Sonny Bullock and Daniel Jones.
