The Bristol Herald Courier <www.tricities.com> 7 Jun 2009 Ann Atwood COEBURN, Va. – Ann B. Atwood, 87, passed away Friday, June 5, 2009, at the Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, Tenn. She was owner and operator of the Payless Super Markets, a member of the First Baptist Church Coeburn, Va., and was a former member of the Coeburn Women's Club. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kay Atwood Saxon. Surviving are her two sons, J.B. Atwood and wife Freda of Coeburn and Danny Atwood of Wise, Va.; a daughter-in-law, Sherry Atwood of Coeburn; two sisters, Nancy Bevins of Venta, Ore., and Gay Loudermilk of Greensboro, N.C.; five grandchildren, Brandon Atwood, Debbie Browning, Allan Atwood, Susan Denton and Freddy Atwood; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 7, 2009, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Sturgill Funeral Home, 310 Sixth St. N.W., Coeburn, Va. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. in the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel Coeburn, with the Rev. Marty Puckett and Brother Les Ritchie officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2009, in the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens, Big Stone Gap, Va. The family and friends will meet at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery. Sturgill Funeral Homes, 310 Sixth St. N.W., Coeburn, VA 24230, is in charge of arrangements.
