Tyler Morning Telegraph <www.tylerpaper.com> 16 Dec 2008 Gordon Wayne Atwood Services for Gordon Wayne Atwood, 68, of Tyler, will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2008, at 3 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home with Chaplin Keith Hague officiating. Burial will follow in Flint Cemetery in Flint under direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mr. Atwood passed away, Saturday, December 13, 2008, after a long, hard battle with cancer, at the Legacy Hospice Serenity House in Tyler. He was born May 1, 1940, in Tyler, Texas, to B.J "Rusty" and Virginia Tisdale Atwood, and was raised in Whitehouse. Mr. Atwood was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin with a bachelor's degree. After graduation he moved to Tyler, where he worked until his retirement at Tyler Pipe. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he loved spending time at Belzora and the boat with family and friends. Mr. Atwood cherished his daughters more than life itself. Mr. Atwood was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving family including daughters, Staci Scott and husband Dr. Shailesh Kadakia of San Antonio, Stephani Brown and husband Dewayne of Tyler, Shawna Murphy and husband Todd of Tyler, Amanda Julian and husband Josh of Tyler; grandchildren, Blake and Chase Scott of San Antonio, Brock, Erika and Savannah Grace Brown of Tyler, Madison and Sam Murphy of Tyler, Hope Bell, Angel and Grace Julian of Tyler; brother, Sam Atwood; sister, Gay Hutchins; nephews, Mark Martin and Joshua Atwood. Pallbearers will be Johnny Paul Atwood, Roy Jack Atwood, Fred Wayne Atwood, Britton Atwood, Tommy Graham and Jim Pumphrey. Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Atwood and Ronnie Atwood.
