George Atwood April 1st, 1921 - January 13th, 2009 George K. Atwood, age 87, of Daytona Beach was called to his heavenly home on Tuesday, January 13, 2009. A funeral service in his honor will be held Friday, January 16, 2009; 1:00 PM at Crossroads Baptist Church, 1851 S. Clyde Morris Blvd, Daytona Beach; followed by an interment and military honors at Daytona Memorial Park. A visitation will be held Thursday 1/15/09; 5:00-7:00 PM at the Daytona Chapel of the Lohman Funeral Home, 1423 Bellevue Ave. George was born in North Carolina to Gilbert and Jennie Atwood, he was a WWII veteran of the US Army, and worked in Management for the Propane industry. George dedicated his life to his family and will best be remembered for his involvement with and devotion to NASCAR, planting a bountiful vegetable gardens, the pleasure fishing and camping brought him, his simple gentle mannerisms, and his dedication to the Lord. He was a proud longtime member of Crossroads (Daytona Beach) Baptist Church and leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 52 years; Clara Atwood, two daughters; Deborah Bennett, Greenville S. Carolina, and Shelly (Darryl) Pritchett, Daytona Beach, FL, a brother; Tom Atwood, New Castle, Delaware, a sister; Connie (Johnny) Wilmonth, Winston Salem, NC, and five grandchildren; Jennifer Hanstine, Daytona Beach, FL, Jonathan Schultz, Port Orange, FL Jennifer Garrett, Greenville, SC, Renee Henderson, Gafney, SC, and Christopher Atwood, Greenville, SC, and nu! merous great grandchildren.
