*The Santa Maria Times <www.santamariatimes.com> 10 Mar 2010 Maureen C. Atwood Maureen C. Atwood, 87 passed away March 7, 2010 in Santa Maria. She was born in Pocatello, Idaho June 28, 1922 to James and Florence Hier. She was raised in Dillon, Montana where she attended local schools. After graduating high school, she moved to Provo, Utah where she was employed as a Security guard for Hillfield during WWII. In 1948 Maureen met and married TSGT William W. Atwood. They moved around for many years until retiring in Alamorgordo, New Mexico. She is survived by her son Ronald S. Leach of New Mexico, daughter Dalene Perlowsky (Frank) of Connecticut, and Arlene Yamamoto PhD (William K.) of Santa Maria, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Maureen is preceded in death by her husband William W. Atwood. A graveside service will be held at the Santa Maria Cemetery, Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 2:30 pm.
