*Basil Wayne Atwood Sr. The Charleston Post & Courier <www.postandcourier.com> 7 April 2010 CHARLESTON - Basil Wayne Atwood, Sr., 77, of Charleston, passed away, on Monday, April 5, 2010. He was born September 29, 1932, in DeRuyter, New York, to parents Mason W. Atwood and Grace Davern Atwood. Basil fought in the Air Force in Korea from 1950-54 and earned his bachelor's degree from Florida State University at Tallahassee. He then worked diligently for the Signode Corporation in steel packaging sales for 37 years. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Demaries Ann Atwood; six children: B. Wayne Atwood, Jr. (Theresa), of Florence, Michael D. Atwood of California, Eric K. Atwood (Margaret), of Charleston, and Meri-Lynn Boynton (Martin) of Charleston; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside memorial ceremony in celebration of Basil's life at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 8, 2010, at Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Rd, Charleston, SC 29412.
