*The Sun Herald <www.sunherald.com> 2 April 2010 Thomas R. Atwood, age 81 and a resident of Biloxi, died on Thursday, April 1, 2010, in Biloxi. Mr. Atwood retired from the U. S. Army as a Sergeant Major in 1978, and had been a resident of Biloxi for the past 22 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilson & Annie Belle Wooten Atwood; his infant son, William Rodney Atwood, and his sister, Doris Ann Barnes. Mr. Atwood is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Earline Cox Atwood of Biloxi; his children, Thomas Ray (Sherry) Atwood, Jr., of Dawsonville, GA, Lynne (James) Stoner of Biloxi, and David (Shirley) Atwood of Pueblo West, CO; his brother, Charles Atwood of Thomasville, NC; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at the Riemann Family Funeral Home <www.riemannfamily.com>, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service.
