Does anyone have any idea who the parents of Peter Atwood, born September 10, 1791 were? We think (because of what is stated on some censuses) he was born in New York State, but aren't sure. Finding records on him is next to impossible. He married Laura Whitney in Chester, MA in 1814. His first child of record was born from that marriage....Sophia Atwood (Daniels), born 1814 (she is my ggg-grandmother). Peter and Laura were on the 1820 Russell, MA census....looks like they may have even run a boarding house by the number in their household. We don't know what ever happened to Laura. Peter remarried in 1825 to Mehitable Phebe Clark and had another family. They were on the 1850 Wyoming County, NY census. We think he died somewhere in New York State between 1850 and 1860 because (I was told) M. Phebe was listed on the next census as a widow. We believe that Peter's mother may have been Native American. I would very much like to find out who his parents were....where he was born....if he had siblings.....where/when he died.
