Hi John, I am interested in your lineage. In my collection (now 168 sheets), I have Alonzo Terrell Atwood m. to Mary S. Barber. Is that an error? Alonzo b. 19 Feb 1837. I would love to have more information, like where this family of Simeon and yours Alonzo lived; children, etc. Would you mind telling me more? My information comes from Atwood Ancestors, Vol. VI, No. 1, p. 19, submitted by Ila A. Bascom. I have nine Josiah's in my collection, including the two you mentioned. My Josiah Atwood was born 10 May 1810 NY or PA (according to census). He married (1) Harriet Sherwood. Josiah was residing in Shelby, Orleans Co., NY in 1840. Harriet died, and Josiah went west to Kendall Co., IL, where he married my ancestor Nancy (Thurber) Wilbur Oct 1848, Bristol, Kendall Co., IL. He died 9 Aug 1871 in Bristol. Josiah and Nancy had three known children: Homer Sherwood, 1850-1895; Carleton Evret, 1853-1855 and Hattie 1856-?. Information from military records says Josiah had a brother George H. Atwood, born in Belfast, Allegany, NY in 1830. The only Atwood I find there at that time 1830 is Benjamin. Josiah and George H. had a brother John and sisters Rebecca and Maria who m. a ? Miller. Interesting the breakdown of the family of Benjamin in 1830 contains the same males and females as I have shown to be the brothers and sisters including Josiah. Unfortunately, I have no ages for these other siblings: John, Maria and Rebecca. I had thought this Ben was a son of Benjamin and Deborah (Mosher) Atwood. Then I heard that Ben, who supposedly married Sarah Rockwell, died young. Not so, according to the will of Benjamin (the elder) who names his son Benjamin, alive at the making of the will in 1828, so my suggestion is that the Ben of Belfast may well be the son of Ben and Deborah Atwood. Am not claiming that lineage of course because there is nothing certain about it. Just supposition. Can't even be sure my ancestor was Benjamin. Thanks so much for responding. Joanne Martin
