    3. Gwen, This is a copy of an email that I saved from Nancy Harding. It seems to imply that at the site where All Saint's Church is located there is a cemetery. This is on the property of the Abbey of Chertsey (the Abbey no longer exists). It appears that there is a museum there at the church location. I remember that not too long ago we had a lady who was from South Africa who had communicated with the librarian and the public library in Sanderstead. She had actually been invited to her home for several days and had met many of the Atwoods that still reside there. I remember an estimate of 30 to 40 families. I did not save her email but I wish I had. I wish I could send you her address. Let us all know what your brother finds. Fond regards, Stephen Atwood OLD EMAIL FOLLOWS Hi Kenneth, I just scanned the following message I received today from you and from memory, it looks very much like the information I've found at gendex.com and at familytreemaker.com. If you go to gendex.com and put in the surname De Wyckhurst, you will get the Atte Wode-Attwood-Atwood lineage going back to 1180. I've been attempting to trace the line further back from Peter De Wyckhurst, who is stated as the father of William Atte Wode, born at Hooley House, Sanderstead, Surrey. I've no idea how or why William's surname differed from that of his father. A distant Atwood relation is currently in the UK doing some research in Surrey, especially on The Abbey of Chertsey from which many Atwood/Attwood ancestors leased or purchased land. I've been told the Atwood/Attwood/Atte Wode families have many members buried at All Saint's Church on property that was once the Abbey of Chertsey (The Abbey no longer exists, although there is a museum.) I hope this is of help to you.
