Hi, I have a bit of information regarding the Sanderstead home which I will try to locate for you. Some Atwood relatives were there this past fall and as far as I know, no home still stands. The lands the family owned go back to a purchase made by one Peter De Wyckhurst back in the early 1200's. Peter De Wyckhurst was the father of William Atte Wode, "Atte Wode" being the first incarnation of the name that later became Atwood or Attwood. The land the family lived on came from the property surrounding or owned by Chertsey Abbey. The Abbey is no longer there, but there IS a museum. I will try to find the contact names and hours of the museum. If you want a 'hoot', go to Gendex.com and put in the surname "Atte Wode", it's amazing what comes up and just how far back we go. I wish you much luck in your search. As I said, the information I have comes from 'family' members who have actually been in Sanderstead/Surrey. I believe there is a church in the area known as All Saints, which was a church the Atte Wode family founded, or it was known as the family church. Hope this helps.
