In so doing I have amassed alot of data on the Chester, VT Atwoods. So when I read the Vol X No 1, page 18 run-down on the Chester Atwoods, I felt I should correct some errors, "jumped-to" conclusions, and fill in some omissions. I have had substantial help in the documentation of this data from Winona Bargrede of Chester, VT (now deceased), Grace Atwood of Alvin, TX, and Connie Butterfield of Cincinnati, Ohio; all of whom have family members who were direct decendants of Chester's Atwoods. The Chester town records and "Childs Gazeteer" published c1880 have the geginnings of the Chester Atwoods with William Atwood and his wife Joanna, who removed from Cranston, RI and went by ox-cart to Chester in 1774. William, according to EF Atwood's "Ye Atte Wode Annals", was of the Atwood Bristol Line. His father Francis married Mary Williams, who had direct roots to Roger Williams of Rhode Island founding fame and his wife Mary.
