Source: [email protected] From: John & Jackie <[email protected]> Subject: [GLS] ROSS - ATWOOD My 2 Great grandparents were James ROSS, tailor journeyman, and Hannah ATWOOD. They had a daughter (Hannah) born in Cheltenham abt 1848 and then a son (James) also born in Cheltenham about 1850, then another daughter (Mary Ann) born abt 1852 in Cheltenham but they are not in the 1851 census in Cheltenham. They continued to have children born in Cheltenham. I found them in the 1861 census and it says they were both from Cheltenham. Looked in the 1841 Cheltenham census and did not find James ROSS. Hannah was in the 1841 Winchcombe census living with her parents. James died before the 1871 census. In 1871 and 1881 Hannah was said to be from Winchcombe. I have found her and all her ancestors. I have not been able to find a marriage of James and Hannah anywhere. I have had someone look at the BMD indexes for me and have had no success. Found the marriage of Hannah's sister Ann (she was married in Cheltenham) but not the one I am looking for. If anyone can help with with what else to look at would love to hear. Cannot trace James until I know a little more about him. From the 1861 census James was born abt. 1814.
