I have written to the list in the past with a mystery as to which Atwood my Adam Nichols ancestor married. I just received confirmation from a kind gentleman, Bill Curtis, who went to New Hampshire Vital Records & pulled this marriage record for me: "It is Certificate # 534 of Hillsborough County. It records a record of marriage between Adam Nichols and Ruth Atwood. No ages are given. The wedding was performed in the town of Hillsborough (just next to Antrim). The service was conducted by the Rev. Jonathan Barnes; clergyman in Hillsborough on May 4, 1786. The document is signed by the town clerk: William H. Story." My Adam was born in MA/NH in 1754. Ruth is his first marriage. I have no idea which Ruth Atwood she is or when she died. I show Adam left Hillsborough County, NH and had moved to Ontario Co., NY by 1819 where he applied for his Rev. War Pension. I'm pretty sure Ruth had died by then. DAR Rev. Records show a second marriage to a Polly Andrews and a child born to them, Mary in 1809. I believe my ancestor Daniel Nichols, born June 1790 is Adam & Ruth's child but I have no proof of that yet. In Cochrane's "History of the Town of Antrim New Hampshire" Daniel is listed as being the child of Adam & __?__ Atwood of Francestown or Weare. Now I know the Atwood was Ruth Atwood. Bill is sending me the copy of the record he made. Isn't this hobby wonderful when there are so many people willing to help strangers? Thanks to everyone.
