The following is an obituary from the online archive from Saturday,June 5, 1999 in the Bangor (Maine) News ATWOOD, Leslie Everett Leslie Everett Atwood, 90, died Sunday, May 31, 1999, at Farragut Health Center, Knoxville, Tenn. Born June 21, 1908, in Orrington, he was the son of Harry Wesley Atwood and Mabel Atwood Bowden. A lifelong resident of Brewer, he resided in Zephyrhills, Fla. for the past 12 years. He worked at Eastern Fine Paper in South Brewer for over 45 years. He was a member of the Second Congregational Church of Brewer prior to becoming a member of the United Methodist Church of Zephyrhills, Fla. in 1987. In addition to being a lifetime member of the Tuscan Chapter of Eastern Star, he was also a Shriner. He was the husband of Doris L. Atwood of Knoxville, Tenn. They would have been married for 70 years on July 13th. Survivors include a son, Kenneth L. Atwood and his wife, Doris of Knoxville, Tenn.; a daughter, Dorothy L. Atwood of Kittery; three grandsons, Richard and his wife, Kristie Atwood of Knoxville, Tenn., Allen and his wife, Theresa of Walkersville, Md. and Peter Atwood of Birmingham, Ala. A memorial service was held in Knoxville on June 3, 1999. A graveside service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Brewer at 11 a.m. on June 10, 1999. The Rev. Scott Cleveland will officiate. Memorial donations may be made to the Second Congregational Church, 607 South Main St., Brewer.
