The Atwood name was common by the early 1900s, in the south shore area (note Atwoods Brook near Shag Harbour on southernmost tip of NS). [Note: Linda Ambill submitted extracts quite some time ago from "The History of Barrington Townships" where it was noted that Joshua who m Mary Knowles was a land grantee in 1767 I think it was.] This line descends to Carl Atwood b 1906 Clyde River NS m 1935 to Margaret Killam, d/o Dr. Harold Edwin Killam and Ora Louise Webster. (This was a double wedding as Kathleen Killam married at the same time.) Also on the Atwood side, Margaret claims relationship to Cornwallis Moreau who is reported to be the first white child born in Halifax, in 1749. He died about 1840.
