Dorrice, I am in total agreement with your statement that what the Mormons do will not hurt me. I believe that God has everything under control anyway. About baptizing by proxy only those from whom they are descended. They can also baptize all the family members in a given family, and they can baptize for remote family members. I have an ancestor, Nancy Thurber, baptized by a "Mormon" who is descended from the same ancestor as Nancy but several generations back. I work at a Family History Center (am not Mormon), and one of my non-Mormon co-worker asked a member to baptize her whole family - no relation to the one who will do the proxy baptism whatsoever. So I think the Mormons are not in agreement on who can and who can't be baptized. Hope I haven't made things less clear. Even if they do this baptizing, it is a great way to get our genealogy out for the world. I hope everyone is aware, however, that a very great deal in the Ancestral file is in error. Joanne Martin
