Atwood ------------------------- In the Genealogy of the Gilbert Atwood Family by Raymond Thomas Atwood... James Atwood, born 10-23-1832, died 1-16-1866, married Elvira J. McQuaid on 2-8-1851 in Marshall, KY. They had three children: 1. Mary Hester, who married James K Mabry on 10-21-1869 in Trigg Co., KY; 2. George E. who married Susan Adeline (Lina) Jones, born 12-16-1862, died 8-19-1948, (George and Susan buried in the Atwood Cemetery in Trigg Co., KY), no children; 3. Martha Mattie)who married Ted (T.P.) Walleridge on 11-6-1879, no children. James R. Atwood is buried on the Whie Farm on Long Creek Road (and there is a picture in the book of his tombstone) - when you get to the Old Baptist cemetery off Highway 68 to the left take the same little road to the right and go about 1-1/4 miles. You will see two large elm trees standing close together just over the fence on the left side of the road and you will find his marker there under the trees. It is broken but was still there in 1970.
