Several weeks ago, Brad asked if anyone knew how Atwood, Kansas got its name. I finally looked it up at the library yesterday in a book on the history of Rawlins County, Kansas. Here's what it said: "In April 1879, T.A. Andrews and J.M. Matheny came to Rawlins County. They established a townsite about two miles east of the present location of Atwood, and named the town Attwood for Matheny's fourteen-year-old son who accompanied his father on the move west." ========== Valerie Williams
