He was born June 20, 1934 in Thayer, Missouri, the son of the late James and Velma L. (Rigel) Atwood. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War, a member of the Duncannon Sportsmen Asso., Pa. State Hunters Organization, Life Member of Good Sam's and FMCA, Pa. Sheriff's Asso., Ntl Wildlife Asso., Newport Lions Club and AARP. He enjoyed traveling in his motor home, hunting , fishing and spending time in the outdoors. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Auxt) Atwood, grandson, Jesselee Atwood, brother, Robert Atwood of Buffalo, Wyoming and sister, Ruby Scheuren of Etters. He was preceded in death by his son, Randy Atwood, brother, John Atwood, and sisters, Mary Kimberling, Nora Jane Baker, and Bertie Lou Laughman. Grand Rapids Press <www.mlive.com> 30 Nov 2009 James Robert Atwood "Bob" Sr. ATWOOD - James Robert "Bob" Atwood, Sr., 76, of Grand Rapids, died Sunday, November 29th at Spectrum Health-Butterworth. He was born May 25, 1933 in Grand Rapids and was the son of the late James and Elise May (Hoskins) Atwood. He retired from Highlands Middle School. He was a wonderful father that loved his family. He served his country in United States Army during the Korea Conflict. He is survived by five children, James (Gisela) Atwood Jr., Dan (Sonia) Atwood, Dave (Margaret) Atwood, Debra (Jeffery) Stout, and Catrina (Jeffery) Emmons; his former wife, Ruth Broyles and a special friend, Barbara Johnson; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; six sisters and several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 2nd at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Chuck Van Lente officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Today Tuesday, December 1st from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Reyers North Valley Chapel, 2815 Fuller Avenue, N.E. at Three Mile Road. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.

    3. The Oregonian <www.oregonlive.com> 26 Nov 2009 Scott Arthur Atwood Scott Atwood, age 50, of Vancouver, WA passed to a better place on November 18, 2009. Scott was born a twin on December 18, 1958 in Salt Lake City UT to Marilyn and Turrel Atwood. Scott is predeceased by both of his parents, and three infant brothers. Scott is survived by his loving wife Mary, two terrific boys Jeremy and Justin and a loved daughter Bonnie Atwood Throckmorton, his son-in-law Chris Throckmorton and grandson Aldan Throckmorton. Scott looked forward to greeting a new little Miss Emma Throckmorton in a few months. His extended family is large, and includes his sisters Susan Thomas, Laurie Allen and twin Janice Beckstead. Scott's life was lived full of joy, loving sacrifice and countless friendships. He was a jewelry manager for 14 years for H & B Jewelry and Loan in Portland OR and owned and operated Atwood Studios. Scott's photography accomplishments were many, but he was proud to capture hundreds of weddings, and two major eruptions of Mt St Helens that are featured in national museums. Scott lived his life to love everyone, and he dedicated much of that to the Boy Scouts of America as an Eagle Scout to standing office in Vancouver in the Columbia River Scout council. He established Troop #456 and was in leadership until his death in Troop #770. Most importantly, Scott celebrated his life every day with his Lord and savior Jesus, who held him tight through illness and escorted him home. Scott, you will always be remembered for your big, loving, gracious and overflowing heart! 1 Cor 13:13. "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." Atwood, entered into the joy of the Lord on Thursday, November 26, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Atwood was born March 25, 1930 in Forsyth County to the late Solomon and Pearl Swaim Brown. She worked for Swift and Company, Western Electric, and Hunter Publishing Co. A former member of New Eden Moravian Church, she was a long-time member of Hope Moravian Church. Survivors include her husband; two daughters and two sons: Reenea Bryant and husband, Jim, of Greensboro; Lynn Coore and husband, John, of McLeansville; Keith Weatherman and wife, Susan, of Winston-Salem and Craig Atwood and wife, Julie, also of Winston-Salem. She was known as “Nanny” to ten grandchildren: Erik, Jodie, Nicole, Mark, Allyson, Emily, Kelly, Billy, Sarah, and Madeleine, and eight great-grandchildren. She had four brothers: William of Redding, CA, Henry (deceased) of Lewisville, Raymon (deceased) of Winston-Salem and Randall of Winston-Salem; and three sisters: Cordie Bodenheimer, Collice Cranford, and Ima Misenheimer, all of Winston-Salem. She was preceded in death by two brothers, two nieces, one nephew, and one grandchild, Erik Wheeler. Memorials may be made to Sunnyside Ministries, 319 Haled St., Winston-Salem, NC 27127, the Diabetes Foundation, or Hope Moravian Church, Hope Church Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27127. But, I can give you a good lead. Look for "The Mayflower Descendant". It's not used enough because of it's name. It's NOT just info on Mayflower passengers as most people assume. It has loads of VRs, church records, town records, and cemetery records for the towns (like Eastham) where the descendants of the Mayflower passengers settled, married, and mingled with other families. He was born on February 4, 1928 in Forsyth County to Charles Franklin Atwood and Nellie Loftin Atwood. He retired from AT&T with 28 years of service and was a member of The Telephone Pioneers. He was a US Navy veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Muller and a brother, Wesley Atwood. On June 28, 1952, he married Hilda Clinard, who survives of the home; also surviving is a daughter, Donna Atwood Dingman and husband Randy of Salem, VA; son, Mark Atwood of Thomasville; sister, Nell Livengood of Jamestown; grandchildren, Adrienne Camacci and husband Shawn, Jared and Ryan Atwood, Allison, Emily, Steven, and Jon Dingman; great-grandson, Michael Camacci; and special friends, Dr. Phil and Jane Dorton. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 20, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Van Brinkley officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8 PM. She was born Aug. 22, 1948, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of the late Guy and Zelah Whitaker Clark. She married Michael Atwood on Nov. 15, 1969, in Collinsville. He survives. Also surviving are one daughter: Michelle Kreger, and husband Lance, of Staunton; two sons: Kyle Atwood of Staunton and Tyler Atwood of Staunton; three grandchildren: Brittani, Dakota and Kane Kreger all of Staunton and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins other family members and dearly loved friends. She was most recently employed as a dispatcher for the Staunton Police Department. She was a member of the Macoupin County Genealogical Society, Staunton American Legion Auxiliary, Staunton V.F.W. and Police Department Teamsters Union. Mrs. Atwood was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was employed by Bell South for over 40 years before retiring. She was preceded in death by her husband William M. Atwood, Jr. , parents Oscar & Emma Ayers, brothers O.L. Ayers, Jr. Curtis Leon Ayers, and sister Delavina Ayers Barrett. Surviving are: Sister Ola Rakestraw of Powder Springs, Nieces & Nephews.
