Bobbie, No, my information is still at a very basic level. Do you have more information to send me? My interest right now is families in New York State and descendants of Thomas and Abigail (?) Atwood. Joanne E. Martin
Margie, I have nothing for you on your line, but it is interesting that I was working on entering data about Atwoods from the IGI tonight and had entered basic information about your family on sheet #159. I have a collection of about 163 Atwood families now and am interested especially in the Atwoods of New York State. Thanks for the two letters you sent giving more details. Joanne E. Martin

Please excuse me--I meant to address my reply to Ruth. G. Atwood
Brad: Thanks for this information. This is my James B. Atwood. In James' son's biographical sketch, he stated that his father had settled in Warren County. I have been researching this man for 25 years. He's as elusive as the wind. He would have settled this area after his first marriage (he divorced his first wife in 1822). I desperately need his wife's name so that I can determine which of two marriages in 1823 was his so that I can locate his second famiy. Also need his parents. Any help from anyone will be appreciated. Glenda Atwood
>From Brad Potts: Wayne Grogan wrote that he had the manuscript "The Early Days of Greenbush, IL." (written by Wm. L. Snapp in 1905 and transferred into an electronic form by Jeff Simmons) available for download in it's entirety at http://users.lewiston.com/grogan ----- I downloaded the file and registered in Wayne's guestbook, explaining how I came to be there, and he sent me this reference before I even had a chance to look through the manuscript myself! Thought others on the list might like to have it, without having to pull the whole manuscript. Here is the reference... James B. Atwood was the first white man that settled in what is now known as Warren county. He arrived in 1828 and located on section 27, now Kelly township. Adam Ritchie and family came the same year and located on the south end of Sugar-tree Grove on the farm afterwards owned by Mr. Quinn in Hale township. John B. Talbot with his mother and cousin, Allen C. Andrews, settled in the northeast corner of Monmouth township, on section one. This is the only mention of any Atwood in the entire manuscript but it might be something to hang onto. Ruth Atwood [email protected] I love deadlines. I especially like the whooshing sound they make as they go flying by.
Thanks for the info. Do you have any information on Hannah Atwood who perhaps married John Bicknell in the late 1700's? Bobbie Coray [email protected]

Hello Brad, I have nothing for your friend who is looking for Esther Atwood. I'm terribly sorry I haven't responded or gotten "on board" as yet. This has been a difficult month. It usually seems to be a difficult time for me as I have fibromyalgia. Joe and I were in Philadelphia April 4 to 18. I came home with an eye infection that hasn't yet cleared up. It's ocular herpes (simplex) and can lead to blindness, so I'm trying to keep my life as cool as possible (not possible). I opted for not getting my email or responding until today. Doesn't mean I don't want to. Thanks for understanding. Joe's brother is ill, and we may have some serious responsibilities coming up concerning that. He is single and lives near us, aged 74, with almost nonfunctioning kidneys. I hate it to be so unable to do the things I love. Slowly, I'll get to the Atwood email. My best, Joanne
Source: [email protected] From: Carole Cull <[email protected]> Subject: [GLS] ATWOOD or ATTWOOD I'm looking for Esther (or Hester) ATWOOD who says at her marriage to William CULL in Elmstone Hardwicke that she was born in Brockhampton nr Tewkesbury - and by her age it should be between 1800 and 1815 - I've searched the Bishops' Transcripts for the relevant parishes (Brockhampton being too small to have it's own church and proper parish records having gone missing) to no avail. I wondered whether anyone had come across the lady or this name in their travels. Any info welcome.
