Hello In the Rogers Family CD, currently being discussed on the rogers-surname list, your surname has been found within the material. Your surname is not part of my direct family line, but I wanted to make you aware of the information. I'm inviting you to subscribe to the list, and post your inquiery about your surname to see if any of our subscribers has information that might help you, even if you don't concentrate your research on the Rogers. At the same time, if you contact me with any Rogers Connections to your Surname, I'll take a look in the CD's master file, and share what I find with you. What we have found is that by notifying others of our findings, all of us find those hard to find females in each of our lines. Email address: [email protected] Thomas W. Rogers
Judy (Outsider AngelSpider) asked: "where do these "Atwood" newsletters come from? Whence was their > origination and what years? I've kept them all, hoping to find my Atwood, > but am still curious about their origination." ---- Claudette Atwood Maerz began publishing the Atwood Ancestors newsletter around 1981. She had subscribers who submitted their family lines and questions, research findings like census lists, results of cemetery searches, etc. - much like the online mailing lists, but a lot more work! She published 18 or 19 volumes (years) and so far Brad and I have managed to transcribe volumes 1 through 6 (there were two volumes 6's numbered 6 and VI), 8-10 and he is working on vol 12. I have the first half of vol 7, and volumes 13-15 which I will be working on for the next couple of months, and he will continue with whatever he has above that. Neither of us seem to have a Vol 11 (eleven), so if anyone out there has that volume, or the second part of volume 7, we'd love to have those transcribed too. (I will do it if you mail it to me. Let me know and I'll send my address.) Ruth Atwood [email protected] Age is a very high price to pay for maturity

Hi folks, I have just received some more volumes of the Atwood Ancestors newsletter published by Claudette Maerze and will begin transcribing in the next few weeks, whenever I have a chance. I have volumes 13, 14, 15, which I don't think have been transcribed yet, have they? There might also be a vol 7 in the bunch. First.... I made an error in the calculation of George B Atwood's birthdate. should have been ~1832 !! I apologize for my haste. Second... I found more information on George. George Bartlett Atwood was the 3rd child and second son of Zenas and Hannah (Bliss) Atwood. He was born in Sandwich, Massachusetts in October of 1829, according to Benjamin Shurtleff (1912). Zenas and Hannah removed to Providence, Rhode Island by 1846. Around 1857 George B Atwood married Eliza Hines of Manchester, England, and had three children: George B Atwood Jr b 14 Oct 1858, d 18 Aug 1859 Emily Eliza Atwood b 26 Mar 1860, d 2 May 1862 Charles Herbert Atwood b Feb 1861 According to Shurtleff, George B Atwood drown in Chesapeake Bay, Maryland on 29 May 1862. Eliza (Hines) Atwood died 11 Mar 1865. This poor family suffered a lot of heartache in such a short time !! Did she leave Charles H Atwood an orphan ? If so where did he go ? His uncle ??....... Sylvester Bliss Atwood ? his aunt ??......... Mary Ann (Dudley) Atwood ? Anyone have more ? Hi Gwen! Do you have any information on Alice White Atwood, my great grandfather's first wife? We have heard stories that she died as a result of a stagecoach holdup and/or blood poisoning on Christmas Day. Do you have any information on her? We have very little information on her. Do you know if she is buried in Vernal? She was Agnas White's sister. Alice and Nephi adopted a son, Lenard Abercrombie. He has talked often of visiting Vernal when he was a boy. Mother also wants to know where you live. Do you live in Canada? Thanks! I cannot find a match in my files to match this George Atwood. I checked by George.... Washington.... 1848 +/- 5 years ...... March birthdate.... No match anywhere in New England.. Best was George S Atwood born 3 Mar 1852, but he died in Massachusetts in 1901. Anyone have access to San Francisco Records ? Census ? Directories ? Was he married ? What line of work did he do ? I just tried to send something RE Atwood that I found interesting on genexchange. After seeing it come up on my screen I seem to remember it is a "no-no" to forward items. I am very sorry to take up the space and do something that is not considered proper. My enthusiasm overcame common sense. Connie Thaxton
These are the only Isaac that I can find in my record. Wrong side. Surely, there must be a record of US government pay vouchers to Indian Agents that would tell you something about this Isaac. I guess you have already searched the NC genealogy records? Is there a site in England for the American Revolution (soldiers that served in it)? Sorry. Just thinking out loud. I'll keep looking.
