Mary W. Atwell Bastin, who was married to Thomas Bastin Jr, lived in these areas. She was born in Maryland on 17 Nov 1780. Although I have found several 'known' ATWELL relatives for her, I have not been able to identify her parents. She died 26 Jan 1852 in (now) Metcalfe County, KY. A daughter of Thomas Bastin Jr and Mary W. Atwell named Martha B. 'Patsy' Bastin married Richard Atwell. I know Richard and Patsy were cousins, but don't have any kinship details. Their marriage was in January 1836 in Barren County, KY. Richard and Patsy Atwell went to Missouri after 1850. Patsy later married Thomas REED in Miller Co, MO. Richard was born in ABT. 1813 in Green County, KY. Patsy was born in ABT. 1815 in Caswell County, NC. Do you know where your Joseph Atwell was born, or any of his siblings names? -- Gary Bastin
