My ancestor, John Atwell, came to Nova Scotia ca. 1761 as part of the New England Planters. He was a cabinet maker, his wife's name was Ruth and he had children: Holthum?, Nancy, Esther, Richard. He died before March 1785, as documented in the book "Planters and Pioneers" Nova Scotia 1749 - 1775, Ester Clark Wright Revised Edition 1978. My gggrandfather was named Cyrus Atwell, wife Maria (1821-1917). Cyrus died at age 76 in 1892, which would make his year of birth 1816. I do not know yet which of John's sons was his father. Do you, Steve, have any information in your documents about John Atwell, he could have been from Connecticut, Rhode Island or Mass.? Any light you can shed on this subject would be much appreciated. Thank you. Jackie Atwell Clifford
