My 6th great-grandfather Edward Shipman (b 1654 in Saybrook) has been listed as marrying Abigail ?. It was recently suggested that his wife was Abigail Atwell, daughter of John Atwell. Does anyone have any information that could support this theory? Interestingly enough, Edward and Abigail's daughter, Deborah married John Atwell. She had married first (1714) John Buckley, who was lost at sea. On April 16, 1728, John Buckley, Jr. chose his step-father, John Atwell, as his guardian.
