    1. Atwell & Houk
    2. Hello Gary and everyone. I hope that I might be able to add a bit to the story of John T. Atwell and Henry C Houk/Hawk. The 1850 Barren County census lists John and Sally Atwell along with their son Richard J. Also in the household were: Nancy L Williams, 17; Catherine Williams, 4; Henry C Houk, 2; and a newborn 5 day old Lucretia Atwell, born on August 20, 1850 if the census date is correct. John B Atwell, 20, is in a separate household nearby. Interestingly, Sarah "Sally" Houk's next oldest brother, William Samuel Houk (b 20 Sep 1810) had a son by his thrid wife, Cynthia Ann Dennison, named Henry Clay Houk, b 4 May 1848. Cynthia must have died in childbirth with little Henry C since William Samuel Houk married for a fourth time that October. All of this is recorded in the family bible which also contains information on some Hisers and some of my McCubbins. The bible also says that Henry Clay Houk married Perlina T Rhea on 6 May 1866 and also married Eliza Gooden, no date given. No location appears for either of the marriages. COuld be the same Henry C Houk/Hawk, but I have no evidence that he went to MO or that he stayed in KY. I'd love to hear more if anyone can supply it. Thanks, Mike Vance
