Is anyone out there researching Atwells in Dutchess Co, NY in the late 1700s and/or early 1800s? I just got a clue that my Atwell family, which settled in PA, may have come from Connecticut to PA via Dutchess Co, NY since the maternal line had cousins (surnamed PEPPER) who followed this same route. My Atwells bought land in PA from these same cousins in 1834, making me think they may have traveled together. I am looking for a WILLIAM ATWELL b.1790c who married ESTHER PEPPER b.1790, both from New Fairfield Co, CT. They were in Luzerne Co. (in what is now Lackawanna Co) PA by the 1830s.
