Surnames: Atwell, Crow, Fo(a)rd, Davis Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4YB.2ACEB/388 Message Board Post: Seeking info on Crow sisters, Annie, Mecca or Mackie, Letitia or Tishie, and Ida B. raised by their father's sister, Anna and her husband, William Baxter Atwell, in Fayette Co., WV after their mother, Lucy Davis Crow, died in 1880. I know that Annie, Tishie and Ida lived to adulthood, but don't know what happened to Mackie. Anna Crow Atwell and her brother, William M. Crow, were born and raised in Tazewell Co., VA. Lucy Davis Crow possibly had another daughter, Alice Fo(a)rd, born @1869 in VA. I have found no record of Alice after the 1880 census.

He was listed on the 1880 Census in Duck Creek, Wilson County Ks as Samuel ATWOOD age 54 with wife Ester age 50, Manson E son age 20 and Billie L son age 16.     3. I need a little help with my Atwell line. I have just proven my ancestor, Anne Atwell to be the sister of Lucretia Atwell b. 1749 of Montville, New London, CT who married her cousin Joseph Atwell. I am trying to prove their ancestry. The Genealogy of the Atwell Family by Charles Beach Atwell (1896) - shows their father to be Samuel b. 1723 - son of Richard Atwell and Joanna (Tubbs). However, I have seen other researchers on the web noting that Samuel s/o Richard died in 1725 as a 2 year old. I would appreciate any help. Thank you - Linda Hansen

I have Zepharia and Elizabeth (born in GA) as Thomas' parents and James and Mary (born in NC) as Zephs parents (I think, by census). That's as far as I've gotten. Samuel Atwell, Sr. was married to Sarah Ann Simmons. He was evidently 30 years older than she was. She died in 1876. Sarah Ann was the grandaughter of Aaron Simmons, whose mother I believe was Ann Davis, daughter of Elijah Davis who is my ancestor. The connection here is a little shaky, since Aaron's mother was named Nancy, which is a nickname for Ann, so I believe it is the same person, but I'm not sure. If you are interested in this line I would be glad to give you what I know.
